Indapamide is used for:

Treating high blood pressure, swelling, or congestive heart failure due to excess fluid in the body.

Indapamide is a diuretic. It works by causing the kidneys to eliminate large amounts of water and salts.

Do NOT use Indapamide if:

  • you are allergic to any ingredient in Indapamide
  • you are unable to urinate or have problems urinating
  • you are taking ketanserin

Contact your doctor or health care provider right away if any of these apply to you.

Before using Indapamide :

Some medical conditions may interact with Indapamide. Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have any medical conditions, especially if any of the following apply to you:

  • if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding
  • if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement
  • if you have allergies to medicines, foods, or other substances
  • if you have heart, liver or kidney disease, or have low levels of sodium or potassium in your body
  • if you have gout or lupus

Some MEDICINES MAY INTERACT with Indapamide. Tell your health care provider if you are taking any other medicines, especially any of the following:

  • Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) (eg, ibuprofen) because the effectiveness of Indapamide may be decreased
  • Angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors (eg, enalapril), diazoxide, or ketanserin because the risk of kidney problems may be increased
  • Allopurinol, amantadine, antineoplastic agents (eg, cyclophosphamide), digitalis glycosides (eg, digoxin), lithium, or nondepolarizing muscle relaxants (eg, vecuronium) because the actions and side effects of these medicines may be increased

This may not be a complete list of all interactions that may occur. Ask your health care provider if Indapamide may interact with other medicines that you take. Check with your health care provider before you start, stop, or change the dose of any medicine.

How to use Indapamide :

Use Indapamide as directed by your doctor. Check the label on the medicine for exact dosing instructions.

  • Indapamide may be taken with or without food. If stomach upset occurs, take with food to reduce stomach irritation.
  • When you first start taking Indapamide , it may cause an increase in the amount of urine or in frequency of urination. To prevent this from affecting sleep, try not to take any dose later than 6 pm.
  • If you miss a dose of Indapamide and you are taking 1 dose daily, take the missed dose if you remember the same day. Skip the missed dose if you do not remember until the next day. Do not take 2 doses at once.

Ask your health care provider any questions you may have about how to use Indapamide.

Important safety information:

  • Indapamide may cause drowsiness, dizziness, lightheadedness, or blurred vision. Do not drive, operate machinery, or do anything else that could be dangerous until you know how you react to Indapamide. Using Indapamide alone, with certain other medicines, or with alcohol may lessen your ability to drive or to perform other potentially dangerous tasks.
  • Indapamide may cause dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting. Alcohol, hot weather, exercise, and fever can increase these effects. To prevent them, sit or stand up slowly, especially in the morning. Also, sit or lie down at the first sign of dizziness, lightheadedness, or weakness.
  • Patients being treated for high blood pressure often feel tired or run down for a few weeks after beginning therapy. Continue taking your medication even though you may not quite feel "normal." Contact your doctor or pharmacist about new symptoms.
  • Your doctor may have also prescribed a potassium supplement for you. If so, follow the dosing carefully. Do not start taking additional potassium on your own or change your diet to include more potassium without first checking with your doctor.
  • Indapamide may cause increased sensitivity to the sun. Avoid exposure to the sun, sunlamps, or tanning booths until you know how you react to Indapamide. Use a sunscreen or protective clothing if you must be outside for a prolonged period.
  • Before you have any medical or dental treatments, emergency care, or surgery, tell the doctor or dentist that you are using Indapamide.
  • Diabetes patients - Indapamide may affect your blood sugar. Check blood sugar levels closely and ask your doctor before adjusting the dose of your diabetes medicine.
  • LAB TESTS, including electrolyte levels, may be performed to monitor your progress or to check for side effects. Be sure to keep all doctor and lab appointments.
  • PREGNANCY and BREAST-FEEDING: If you become pregnant, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using Indapamide during pregnancy. It is unknown if Indapamide is excreted in breast milk. Do not breast-feed while taking Indapamide.

06.09Low glycogen level could explain violent drunks: study
HELSINKI (AFP) – Low glycogen levels could explain why some people always turn aggressive or violent when they drink, a Finnish study showed Monday, suggesting the problem could be avoided with medication and regular meals.
05.09Study Reported Tadalafil Taken Once Daily Improved Erectile Function In Men With ED And Sexual Quality Of Life In Couples.
Eli Lilly and Company (NYSE: LLY) announced results from a double-blind, placebo-controlled study which showed that tadalafil 5 mg dose taken once daily was generally well-tolerated, improved erectile function for men with erectile dysfunction (ED) and reported improvement in the sexual quality of life scores for men and their female partners. The 12-week study monitored 342 men and their partners, using several scientific questionnaires to assess changes in erectile function and sexual quality of life before and after treatment with a tadalafil once daily dose. The study appears in the May issue of the peer-reviewed Journal of Sexual Medicine.

"This is the first study of tadalafil 5 mg once daily dose in the treatment of men with ED in which the female partner reported improvement in sexual quality of life scores," said lead investigator Eusebio Rubio-Aurioles M.D., Ph.D. "The sexual quality of life scores also improved among males being treated. In addition, this study showed that daily dose of tadalafil is effective and generally well tolerated in the treatment of erectile dysfunction."

04.09Erectile Dysfunction: Cialis, Viagra and Levitra to Treat ED.
There are only three oral drugs approved by the FDA to treat erectile dysfunction: Cialis, Levitra, and Viagra. All work by increasing the flow of blood into the penis so that when a man is sexually stimulated, he can get an erection.

What Are the Differences Between Cialis, Levitra, and Viagra?

Cialis, Levitra, and Viagra work by a similar mechanism to cause erections. There are subtle differences in how long the drug works and how quickly it works. Levitra works a little longer than Viagra. They both take effect in about 30 minutes. With Levitra, the effects last for about 5 hours. With Viagra, the effects last approximately 4 hours.

Cialis works a bit faster (within about 15 minutes), and the effects last much longer -- up to 36 hours in some cases.

If One of These Drugs Isn't Effective for Erectile Dysfunction, Can I Try Another?

Yes, but because these drugs work the same way, it's unlikely that you'll have success with one if you've failed to achieve an adequate erection with another.

What Precautions Should I Take Before Taking One of These Drugs?

There are certain situations in which these drugs may not be safe to take. Before taking them, tell your doctor:

* If you are allergic to any drugs, including Viagra or other ED medications.

* About any prescription or nonprescription medications you are currently taking, including herbal and dietary supplements.

* If you are scheduled for surgery, including dental surgery.

* If you take nitroglycerin or a long-acting nitrate to treat chest pain. The combination of Cialis, Levitra or Viagra with these drugs can cause dangerously low blood pressure.

* If you take alpha-blockers for blood pressure or prostate problems. The combination of Cialis or Levitra with these drugs can also cause dangerously low blood pressure.
